Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
- Proficiency in braille transcription and reading
- Experience as a paraprofessional in educational settings
- Ability to provide one-on-one and small group assistance
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with teachers, specialists, and families
- Understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations for visually impaired students
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students with access to curriculum materials through braille and tactile resources
- Support daily classroom activities, reinforcing lesson content and accommodations
- Transcribe classroom materials, tests, and assignments into braille
- Foster an inclusive atmosphere by encouraging participation and independence
- Work closely with special education staff to monitor progress and adjust support as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and a professional presence within the school environment
