Schedule: 4.5 hours per day | 22.5 hours per week
Assignment: School-Year Contract (August End of Academic Year)
Position Overview
We are hiring Pre-K Instructional Aides/Paraprofessionals for a school-year contract supporting classrooms across campuses in San Francisco. Employees are assigned to a school site; however, the campus determines daily placements based on student needs.
This role requires individuals who are flexible, dependable, and team-oriented, with the ability to support students with a wide variety of developmental, behavioral, and medical needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in delivering instructional support to Pre-K students
- Provide hands-on support with daily living activities, including:
- Toileting and diapering
- Feeding and mealtime assistance
- Support students with medical and physical needs such as:
- G-tube feeding
- Blood glucose monitoring
- Asthma treatment assistance
- Help manage classroom behavior and support social-emotional growth
- Work with students across various environments (classroom and campus settings)
- Collaborate closely with teachers, administrators, and support staff
Important Assignment Expectations
- Positions are campus-based, not role-specific assignments are determined by school needs
- All paraprofessionals must be willing to perform any assigned duty within scope, including personal care and medical assistance
- Refusal to perform assigned tasks may result in dismissal
- While preferences may be discussed with school leadership, placements are not guaranteed
- Candidates must demonstrate a strong team-player attitude and flexibility
Minimum Qualifications (Required for All Classifications)
Must meet one of the following:
- Associates Degree or higher
- OR 48 college units + High School Diploma
- OR Passing of CBEST + High School Diploma
- OR Passing of Instructional Aide Exam + High School Diploma
Additional Classification Requirements S10 / S10A / S10E
- Annual completion of Emergency Anti-Seizure Medication Training (as required)
- CPR & First Aid Certification (renewed every 2 years; district-funded)
S10F (Advanced Health Support)
- CPR & First Aid Certification
- Training in:
- G-tube feeding
- Blood glucose testing
- Asthma medication administration
- Additional health care procedures (e.g., suctioning, catheterization, oxygen support)
S10Q (Behavioral Support)
- Minimum 1 year experience supporting students with significant behavioral or social-emotional needs
S10W (Community-Based Support)
- Ability to stand up to 5 hours while supporting students in community settings
S20D (Deaf/Hard of Hearing)
- Fluency in sign language and knowledge of deaf culture
S20V (Vision Support)
- Preferred: Background in Braille or visual impairment services
S22 (Health Services)
- Valid California LVN license
- Current CPR & First Aid Certification
