Step into a dynamic educational environment and make a difference supporting young learners as a contract American Sign Language Interpreter/Paraprofessional. This full-time role serves a PreK caseload, working alongside dedicated educators and staff near Ozark, MO. Your skills in sign language interpretation and paraprofessional support will be pivotal in promoting inclusive communication and assisting students in reaching their full potential.
Key Qualifications:
- 100% fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required
- Experience as a paraprofessional, preferably within school settings
- Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with young children and collaborating with classroom staff
- High level of patience, empathy, and adaptability
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to all professional and ethical standards
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction and activities using American Sign Language for PreK students
- Assist teachers in providing direct support to students with varying needs
- Promote accessible communication, ensuring all students have equitable access to learning
- Facilitate daily routines, instructional activities, and transitions within the classroom
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support personnel to implement individualized education plans
- Support social, emotional, and academic development in a nurturing classroom atmosphere
- Provide written and/or verbal feedback to teachers regarding student progress and needs
