Job Description

A full-time position is available for an experienced Educational Interpreter and Paraprofessional to support a 9th-grade student in a LifeSkills program within a high school setting in Olympia, WA. This contract role involves working onsite, providing dedicated 1:1 assistance to a highly autistic student while also supporting the classroom teacher and other students as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver sign language interpretation and translation services to facilitate communication for a student with educational interpreter support needs.
  • Provide paraprofessional support as a 1:1 aide to the student, assisting with classroom activities and personal needs.
  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher to support other students within the LifeSkills program.
  • Maintain a supportive and inclusive learning environment that addresses the unique challenges of a highly autistic student.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 4.0 or higher.
  • Demonstrated experience working with students who have special education support needs.
  • Ability to effectively perform both interpreting and paraprofessional duties.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with educators and students.

Position Details:

  • School Level: High School
  • Schedule: Full-time, 33 hours per week (8:00 AM 2:50 PM; early release Wednesdays at 1:20 PM)
  • Duration: Contract for the current school year (CSY)
  • Onsite support required
