Job Description

An opportunity exists for dedicated professionals to provide targeted support as an ASL Instructional Assistant in an engaging elementary school environment. This contract position is ideal for individuals passionate about enhancing the educational experiences of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children, particularly in an educational setting
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Ability to work effectively in a one-on-one support role
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Background in early childhood education is a plus

Location:

  • Long Beach, California

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the instructional support of a 1:1 PreK student
  • Implement strategies to promote effective communication using ASL
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to enhance student learning
  • Monitor and document student progress and engagement
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Support the students social and emotional development in the classroom setting
