A school district in Ashland, Wisconsin, is seeking a dedicated Special Education Assistant to support a virtual classroom for middle school students with academic disabilities. This paraprofessional role involves working closely with a special education teacher and providing individualized support to 13 students across a K-12 district-wide caseload. The position requires 37.5 hours per week and runs from ASAP through June 12, 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist a virtual special education teacher by delivering targeted academic support to students with disabilities
- Support students educational progress by implementing specialized instruction and accommodations
- Monitor and document student performance and behavior, communicating effectively with teachers and staff
- Collaborate with educational teams to meet individualized education plan (IEP) goals
- Adapt instructional materials and provide hands-on assistance to foster student engagement
Qualifications:
- Experience working as a paraprofessional or special education assistant, preferably in a K-12 setting
- Familiarity with virtual learning environments and special education practices
- Ability to support students with academic disabilities through personalized academic interventions
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with educational staff
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment
