Job Description

This full-semester contract opportunity seeks dedicated paraprofessionals to support K-12 students in a school setting located in Aurora, Illinois. The role involves working onsite up to 20 hours per week, providing essential assistance within specialized classrooms focused primarily on students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other cognitive impairments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with special education teachers and staff to deliver supports tailored to students educational and behavioral needs.
  • Implement de-escalation techniques to manage aggressive behaviors effectively within an elementary classroom environment.
  • Assist with daily care routines, including toileting and diaper changes, ensuring dignity and comfort for students requiring such support.
  • Support instructional activities for self-contained classrooms, including bilingual settings for grades 3 through 5.
  • Adapt to the needs of middle school classrooms as available within the program.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience working with students diagnosed with autism and cognitive impairments, especially life skills development.
  • Comfort and capability in managing toileting and diapering tasks without physical restrictions.
  • Bilingual skills particularly valued for some positions.
  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) required.
