What we're looking for:
- Experience as a paraprofessional in a school environment
- Proficiency in braille transcription and reading
- Ability to assist with instructional activities and classroom management
- Strong communication skills and a patient, compassionate approach
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving student needs
- High school diploma or equivalent (additional certification as a Braillist or Paraprofessional is a plus)
- Collaborative spirit and commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment
Key responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group assistance to students, including those with visual impairments
- Translate classroom materials and textbooks into braille, ensuring accessibility
- Work closely with teachers and other staff members to implement instructional plans
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to educators
- Support positive behavioral interventions and classroom organization
- Assist students with mobility, note-taking, and accessing educational resources
- Help facilitate communication between students, teachers, and families
