An opportunity exists for a skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist to support K-12 students in San Antonio, TX. This contract position is ideal for professionals dedicated to enhancing the independence and quality of life for students with vision impairments through personalized mobility training.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS)
  • Experience working with K-12 students
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Strong understanding of IEP processes and educational environments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop tailored mobility plans

Location: San Antonio, Texas

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to determine students' orientation and mobility needs
  • Develop and implement individualized mobility goals
  • Provide direct mobility training and therapeutic services
  • Collaborate with educators, parents, and other specialists in IEP meetings
  • Maintain documentation of services provided and student progress
  • Travel between schools as required, with paid travel time included
