Job Description

This part-time Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) position offers an opportunity to work with a full K-12 caseload in the Castroville, TX area. The role includes providing direct therapy services, conducting evaluations, and collaborating with school staff to support students' mobility and orientation needs throughout the school year on a contract basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver orientation and mobility therapy to K-12 students with visual impairments.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess students orientation and mobility skills.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized plans that promote safe and independent navigation.
  • Collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to enhance student outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with district and state guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Texas Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) license is required.
  • Experience managing a full K-12 caseload focused on therapy and evaluations.
  • Strong knowledge of mobility techniques, assistive technology, and accommodations for students with visual impairments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practices.
