Make a significant impact supporting students as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist with a part-time, contract opportunity based near Portland, TX. The district is experiencing a vital need for your expertise, with a flexible start and end date from August 3, 2026, to May 28, 2027. This role provides an important service to students in southeast Texas, offering approximately 20 hours of work each week across a to-be-determined number of schools. You'll collaborate with district staff and other specialists to deliver quality services for students who require orientation and mobility support, making a lasting difference in their educational journey.

Key Qualifications:

• Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification
• AVCREP certification or equivalent preferred
• Demonstrated experience working with students in school settings
• Ability to obtain and complete required Texas fingerprinting quickly if not already finalized
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
• Familiarity with planning and implementing individual mobility programs for students of varied ages

Primary Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and assess student needs for orientation and mobility services
• Develop and implement individualized instructional plans tailored to each students requirements
• Work collaboratively with educational teams to create and monitor support strategies
• Maintain clear and thorough documentation of all services provided
• Travel between assigned school sites as required
• Participate in meetings and contribute expertise to interdisciplinary teams
