Job Description

A K-12 school in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist to provide specialized support for students with visual impairments. This contract position offers the opportunity to work directly with two students, delivering tailored orientation and mobility services to enhance their independence and safety in various environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct orientation and mobility training for students with visual impairments, focusing on safe travel techniques within school and community settings
  • Assess students mobility needs and develop individualized plans to improve spatial awareness and navigation skills
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to integrate mobility goals into students educational programs

Qualifications:

  • Certification or demonstrated experience as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS)

  • Experience working with K-12 students in a school setting preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with students, families, and educational teams
  • Ability to commit to one hour per week on contract during the school year
