Job Description

An opportunity exists for a qualified Orientation Mobility Specialist to provide essential support within a K-12 educational setting in Phoenix, AZ. This contract position involves working closely with students from preschool through 12th grade, focusing on enhancing their mobility and independence.

Location:

Responsibilities:

  • Administer assessments to evaluate students mobility skills, progress, and achievements.
  • Provide tailored instruction aligned with students Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Develop and implement behavioral management strategies and instructional materials.
  • Actively participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings and consultative discussions with parents and staff.
  • Facilitate the development and review of IEPs, ensuring comprehensive support for students.
  • Schedule and coordinate both direct and consultative Orientation and Mobility services.

Qualifications:

  • National Certification for Orientation and Mobility (COMS).
  • Valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse populations.
  • Experience working in an educational environment, particularly with K-12 students.
  • Ability to develop individualized strategies to meet students unique mobility needs.
