An opportunity is available for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist to support students in a K-12 setting. This role focuses on providing vital services to promote independence and safety for students requiring orientation and mobility assistance.

Qualifications:

• Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS)
• Experience working with K-12 students, particularly those with visual impairments
• Strong assessment and evaluation skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to develop individualized mobility plans
• Knowledge of current best practices in orientation and mobility
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams

Location: Land O' Lakes, FL

Responsibilities:

• Provide orientation and mobility assessments and services to students.
• Develop and implement individualized mobility plans based on evaluations.
• Collaborate with educators, parents, and support staff to ensure comprehensive service delivery.
• Conduct screenings and evaluations for additional students in need of services.
• Offer training and resources to staff and families regarding mobility strategies.
• Maintain accurate records of services provided and student progress.
