Job Description
A part-time Orientation and Mobility Specialist is needed to support K-12 students in a school setting located in San Marcos, TX. This role focuses on providing specialized mobility training and orientation skills to visually impaired students, enhancing their independence and safety both inside and outside the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct orientation and mobility assessments to evaluate students needs.
- Develop and implement individualized mobility training programs.
- Teach safe and effective travel skills using canes, technology, and environmental cues.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other specialists to support student learning and integration.
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and service delivery.
- Stay current with best practices and professional standards in orientation and mobility.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Texas Orientation and Mobility (O&M) License required.
- Experience working with children in K-12 educational settings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to tailor instruction to a wide range of student needs.
Location: San Marcos, TX
Schedule: Part-time, school-year contract
