Seeking a skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist to provide vital support to schools in the Southeast Texas Coast region. This contract role is a part-time opportunity, requiring approximately 20 hours per week, and offers the chance to make a significant impact within a district experiencing a pronounced need for expertise in orientation and mobility services. The assignment is set to begin on August 3, 2026, and will continue through May 28, 2027.
Qualifications:
- Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Certification required
- AVCREP Certification or similar credential
- Experience delivering O&M services in a school-based or educational environment strongly preferred
- Understanding of diverse student needs, including ages and ability levels (specific caseload details forthcoming)
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with school staff, families, and related service providers
- Must be able to complete Texas fingerprinting requirements promptly, if not already completed
Responsibilities:
- Guide students with visual impairments in developing orientation and mobility skills
- Assess, plan, and implement individualized instructional programs
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support students academic and functional goals
- Complete required documentation and student progress reports
- Travel between assigned school locations as needed (campuses to be determined)
