Job Description

An opportunity exists for a skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist to support students in a K-12 educational environment during a leave of absence. This role focuses on providing essential mobility training and guidance to help students navigate their school surroundings safely and effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Michigan Orientation and Mobility license
  • Professional experience in a school setting
  • Ability to develop individualized mobility plans
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with EC programs and their unique needs
  • Current district fingerprints and background check

Location: Howell, MI

Responsibilities:

  • Assess student needs and develop tailored orientation and mobility programs
  • Conduct orientation sessions to familiarize students with their physical environment
  • Collaborate with educators and other support staff to integrate mobility training into the school day
  • Provide training and resources to staff and families on mobility strategies
  • Monitor and document student progress and adjust programs as necessary
  • Participate in IEP meetings and other required school meetings
