Job Description

An opportunity exists for a skilled professional in orientation and mobility within an educational setting. This contract position is designed for the 2025-2026 school year and will involve working two days a week with a manageable caseload of ten students.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS)
  • Experience working with K-12 students, particularly those with visual impairments
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to develop individualized mobility plans
  • Experience collaborating with educational staff and families
  • Knowledge of mobility aids and techniques

Responsibilities:

  • Provide orientation and mobility assessments and training to students
  • Develop and implement individualized mobility plans tailored to each student's needs
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to facilitate safe and effective mobility for students
  • Conduct follow-up evaluations to monitor student progress and adjust plans as necessary
  • Participate in staff meetings and engage with families regarding student development
  • Maintain accurate records of services provided and student progress
