Job Description

This full-time opportunity is for a certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to support K-12 students in the Cape Coral area, working within the school system for the 2025-2026 school year. The role is a contract position, primarily based on-site, providing essential services to students with visual impairments to help them navigate and gain independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized orientation and mobility instruction to K-12 students to enhance their independence in school and community settings.
  • Assess students' needs and develop individualized mobility plans.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other educational professionals to support student success.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and service delivery.
  • Potential itinerant assignments across multiple schools within the district.
  • Participate in meetings, training, and ongoing professional development as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Florida Teaching Certificate.
  • Certification as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist through ACVREP.
  • Experience working with children and youth in educational settings.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work full-time hours (37.5 hours per week) within the academic calendar.

  • On-site position serving schools in the Cape Coral and Fort Myers area, Florida.
