This full-time position is for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist in a year-round K-12 school setting located in Arlington Heights, IL. The role provides essential support to students with visual impairments, helping them gain independence and safety in their environments.

Discipline: Orientation and Mobility (O&M) Specialist
Hours: Monday through Friday, full-time
Grade Levels: Kindergarten through 12th grade
Position Type: Permanent, contract

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and develop individualized mobility plans for students with visual impairments
• Provide orientation training to help students navigate their school and community safely
• Collaborate with educators and families to support student progress and accessibility
• Maintain detailed documentation on student growth and mobility goals
• Stay current with best practices and assistive technology in orientation and mobility

Qualifications:

• Masters Degree in Orientation and Mobility
• Experience working with K-12 students in school settings
• Knowledge of current O&M techniques and adaptive equipment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students, families, and colleagues

This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of students by fostering independence and safety. The salary range for this role is $90,000 to $105,000.
