Step into a rewarding role dedicated to student care and well-being as a classroom nurse supporting a bright and resilient student. This contract position, based near Salem, MA, offers the opportunity to provide one-on-one nursing assistance for a student with a tracheostomy (with nothing actively running) in a supportive school environment.
The position is part-time mornings, with hours running Monday through Friday from 8am to 2pm until June 23. Following a short break, the schedule continues Monday through Thursday, 8am to 12:30pm, from July 6 to August 6. Youll be embedded in a collaborative classroom, working closely with educators and specialists to ensure optimal care and safety for the student.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current, active LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) or RN ASN license in Massachusetts
- Prior experience providing care for students with tracheostomies is preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, staff, and families
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of a dynamic school environment
- Strong organizational skills and a nurturing, compassionate demeanor
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and attend to the health and well-being of the assigned student throughout the school day
- Implement and document student care plans and procedures relating to the tracheostomy
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and school personnel to support student learning and participation
- Respond promptly to health concerns or emergencies as needed
- Maintain accurate nursing notes and ensure compliance with district and state regulations
