Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification appropriate for high school or special education settings
- Experience teaching life skills to high school students, preferably within a school environment
- Demonstrated success in lesson planning and curriculum adaptation
- Familiarity with IEP development, implementation, and monitoring
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with staff and consultation with parents
- Ability to motivate and support students with diverse learning needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver lesson plans that address essential life skills, tailored to varying abilities within the high school population
- Draft, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in alignment with state and federal requirements
- Maintain ongoing consultation with staff and parents to coordinate student supports and accommodations
- Create an inclusive and respectful classroom atmosphere that promotes independence and personal development
- Track and report on student progress, adjusting strategies as needed to foster growth
- Participate in professional development sessions and school meetings as required
