Job Description
A K-12 Interpreter specializing in American Sign Language (ASL) and Cued Language Transliteration is needed to support communication access for students within a school district in Prior Lake, MN. This full-time contract position runs from ASAP through the end of the school year, requiring 40 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide communication access by transliterating spoken English into Cued Speech for students who use Cued Speech.
- Support students utilizing American Sign Language as part of their educational experience.
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and students to facilitate effective communication.
- Maintain a caseload consistent with assigned schools and student needs.
- Follow district policies, including completing any required onboarding and fingerprinting prior to starting.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current certification as a Cued Language Transliterator (TECUnit) or pending certification.
- Experience as a transliterator in educational settings preferred.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language, with an EIPA score of 4.0 or RID-NIC certification.
- Ability to work within a 40-hour per week schedule and adapt to school calendar needs.
Additional Details:
- Interviews will be conducted remotely via Zoom and scheduled with advance notice.
- A signed contract is required prior to beginning work, with review and offer decisions made within 48 hours.
- Training and support are provided as needed.
- This role supports schools within the Prior Lake district and collaborates with other contractors in the area.
