Make a meaningful impact as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist supporting students across K-12 grade levels. This contract position is ideal for professionals who are passionate about fostering accessible learning environments. Offering a flexible, part-time onsite schedule of 3-4 days per week, youll collaborate closely with educators, families, and students to promote academic and social success.
Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TDHH) License
- Experience or strong interest working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a school setting
- Excellent communication, consultation, and advocacy skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with current methods, adaptations, and assistive technologies for D/HH students
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to students with hearing loss across K-12 grades
- Assess student needs and develop individualized strategies to maximize access to education
- Provide guidance to teachers, staff, and families on best practices and accommodations
- Support IEP development, progress monitoring, and required documentation
- Participate in student evaluations and team meetings to inform educational programming
- Stay current on legal requirements and trends in deaf education
