Job Description

This full-time position is ideal for a certified Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing seeking to provide specialized educational services in an elementary school setting. The role requires onsite presence near Bristol, IL, with a contract running for the duration of the school year. This opportunity allows educators to make a significant impact on the academic and social development of students with hearing impairments.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) certification in Illinois
  • Experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in an elementary school environment
  • Strong understanding of communication strategies and educational techniques tailored to hearing-impaired learners
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with families, school staff, and related service providers

Location and Schedule:

  • Onsite position located near Bristol, IL, with a relocation possibility in the Oswego area
  • Full-time hours per week, consistent with school calendar and operational hours

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
  • Deliver direct instruction and support incorporating speech, auditory, sign language, and other communication methods
  • Monitor student progress and modify instructional methods as needed to maximize learning outcomes
  • Provide consultation and training to classroom teachers and staff regarding accommodations and communication strategies
  • Foster an inclusive environment that promotes language development and social integration
