A specialized opportunity is available for a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist within a school setting in Berlin, CT. This contract position is designed for professionals who are skilled in supporting students with hearing impairments through tailored educational strategies and assistive technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct assessments and develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
• Collaborate with teachers, families, and other educational professionals to implement effective communication and learning accommodations.
• Utilize and train staff on the use of assistive listening devices and other specialized teaching tools.
• Provide direct instruction and support to students to enhance language, listening, and social skills.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instructional methods as necessary.
• Advocate for accessible learning environments and ensure compliance with relevant educational regulations.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

• Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
• Experience working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings.
• Strong communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), preferred.
• Knowledge of audiological equipment and assistive technology.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Location:

• Berlin, Connecticut work directly within a school to provide essential support to students.
