Job Description

Step into a pivotal role supporting student growth as a Behavior Intervention Specialist for the 2025-2026 school year. In this part-time, onsite contract opportunity, youll have the chance to collaborate closely with an experienced BIS and a SpEd Administrator while serving 3-4 schools in the local area. Typical hours are from 8:30 AM to 4:10 PM, totaling 18 hours per week (.5 FTE), with schedule variations as needed throughout the school year.

Qualifications:

  • BCBA credential or valid Special Education Teacher license (Tier 3 or 4 if applying as a SpEd Teacher)
  • Previous work as a Behavior Specialist in educational settings preferred
  • Solid background conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and implementing behavior intervention plans
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for consulting with school teams and staff
  • Calm, adaptable mindset for crisis situations and a flexible approach to addressing diverse student needs
  • RBTs are not eligible for this position

Responsibilities:

  • Consult and implement positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) for students across assigned schools
  • Provide expert recommendations for programming and maintain a positive, safe environment
  • Conduct FBAs, reinforce positive behaviors, redirect inappropriate behaviors, and apply de-escalation strategies, including restrictive procedures if required
  • Support IEP development and ensure plans meet district, state, and federal guidelines
  • Train school staff on behavior strategies and best practices
  • Utilize data to inform decision-making and monitor student progress
  • Adhere to district policies, staff/student handbooks, and additional duties as directed by Special Education leadership
