Job Description
Make a meaningful impact in local schools as a Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) for the 20252026 academic year. This rewarding part-time, onsite contract role supports positive student outcomes across multiple school sites. Work in partnership with another BIS and Special Education Administrator to deliver essential behavioral support within an engaging, collaborative environment.
This contract role runs from September 8, 2026, to June 10, 2027, averaging 18 hours weekly, typically between 8:30 a.m. and 4:10 p.m., with a focus on flexibility to meet the unique needs of each site.
Key Qualifications:
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification or eligibility as a Special Education Teacher (RBTs are not eligible)
- For Special Education Teachers, a Tier 3 or 4 license is required
- Proven skill in functional behavioral assessment and implementing positive behavioral interventions
- Strong consultation and collaboration abilities
- Comfort supporting 34 different school sites, with assignment locations determined based on needs
- Experience using de-escalation techniques and, when necessary, restrictive procedures
- Ability to contribute to individualized education plans and provide staff training
Key Responsibilities:
- Consult, plan, and deliver positive behavioral interventions for students across assigned sites
- Collaborate with educational teams, fostering positive programming and a constructive work environment
- Conduct functional behavior assessments, apply data-driven strategies, and track student progress
- Maintain student and environmental safety standards, as well as compliance with school and district policies
- Provide guidance and professional development to staff around behavioral best practices
- Responsively address crisis situations with calm, flexible thinking
