Job Description

A full-time opportunity is available for an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher to support students in grades 5-12 for the current school year. This contract position involves a 37.5-hour workweek dedicated to providing specialized physical education services tailored to students unique needs and abilities.

This role focuses on a caseload that includes students with emotional disabilities, PTSD, and some with intellectual disabilities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in creating and implementing adaptive physical education programs that promote physical wellness, confidence, and inclusion among diverse learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver adaptive physical education lessons suited to individual student needs.
  • Collaborate with special education and related service staff to support student goals.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting activities as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and report on student development.
  • Foster a safe, supportive, and encouraging learning environment.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with an Adaptive Physical Education Endorsement.
  • Experience working with students with emotional disabilities, PTSD, and intellectual disabilities preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage students and collaborate with team members.
  • Commitment to student-centered, inclusive education practices.

Location: Plainfield, IL
Schedule: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Duration: Current School Year (CSY) contract
