Job Description: We are seeking a passionate and experienced Adaptive PE Teacher to join our team within a K-12 school district in California. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and delivering adaptive physical education curriculum to students with diverse abilities in a school setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized adaptive physical education plans for students with diverse needs, including those with physical, cognitive, and sensory disabilities.
  • Deliver engaging and interactive virtual PE lessons using a variety of instructional strategies and assistive technologies.
  • Assess students' motor skills, physical fitness, and overall progress, and provide regular feedback to students and parents.
  • Collaborate with other members of the educational team, including special education teachers, therapists, and administrators, to support students' development.
  • Provide guidance and support to parents and caregivers on how to promote physical activity and motor skill development at home.
  • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in adaptive physical education and incorporate new strategies and resources into instructional planning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching license/certification in Physical Education and/or Special Education
  • Experience working with students with diverse abilities, including those with physical, cognitive, and sensory disabilities
  • Knowledge of adaptive physical education principles, strategies, and assistive technologies
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to adapt instruction to meet the individual needs of students
  • Comfort with using technology for virtual instruction and communication
