Position: Sign Language Interpreter
Location: Moxley, GA
- Provide sign language interpretation services during various events, meetings, and appointments to facilitate effective communication between hearing individuals and members of the deaf community.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect for diverse communication needs while interpreting in different settings.
- Translate spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa, conveying nuances and emotions accurately.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with clients and colleagues.
- Collaborate with other interpreters, clients, and event organizers to ensure seamless communication throughout the interpreting process.
- Familiarize yourself with specialized terminology to ensure accurate interpretations in specific industries or domains, such as education, healthcare, legal, or business.
- Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, holding relevant certifications (e.g., RID, NAD, EIPA, or equivalent).
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and extensive knowledge of Deaf culture.
- Strong linguistic and interpretation skills to convey meaning accurately and sensitively in various contexts.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different communication styles and needs of clients.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong commitment to professional ethics and standards.
- Flexibility to work varied hours and adapt to dynamic scheduling requirements.
- Previous experience working as an interpreter in educational, medical, legal, or community settings.
- Familiarity with the local Deaf community and their specific needs in the Moxley, GA area.
- Additional certifications or training in specialized interpreting fields.
