Job Description

Job Posting: Public Health Nutritionist (16-week Contract Position with WIC)

Position: Public Health Nutritionist
Contract Duration: 16 weeks
Location: Multiple locations in Chicago (travel required)
Training: 2-week training provided
Hours: 35 hours per week

Responsibilities:

  • Provide nutritional counseling and education to participants of the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program
  • Conduct assessments and develop personalized nutrition plans for individuals and families
  • Deliver group education sessions on topics such as prenatal nutrition, infant feeding, and healthy eating for children and adults
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate services and support the overall health and well-being of WIC participants
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with program guidelines
  • Stay updated on current research and best practices in public health nutrition

Requirements:

  • Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN)
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in Dietetics, Foods, and Nutrition, or a directly related field OR a Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Foods, and Nutrition, or a directly related field plus 2 years of work experience in Public Health nutrition or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience provided that the minimum education requirement of 20 hours/credits in Food and Nutrition courses is met
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (preferred)
  • Experience working with the WIC program (preferred)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations in Chicago
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
