Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team in Plattsburgh, NY, for a 13-week contract position. As a PCU RN, you will provide specialized care to acutely ill patients in our progressive care tele unit. This position involves working 12-hour night shifts, with a 48-hour workweek and every other weekend requirement. Experience in telemetry is essential, with a minimum of 1 year of recent experience in this area.

Requirements:

Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Telemetry/Progressive Care Unit
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications
Prior experience with Epic electronic medical records within the past year
Previous travel experience as a Registered Nurse to substitute
Strong knowledge of progressive care tele nursing principles and protocols

Responsibilities:

Assess, monitor, and provide care for acutely ill patients in the progressive care tele unit
Administer medications, manage IV therapies, and perform treatments in accordance with physician orders and established protocols
Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, notifying the healthcare team promptly of any changes or abnormalities
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement comprehensive care plans
Educate patients and their families on their conditions, treatment plans, and self-management techniques
Document all patient care activities accurately and maintain detailed medical records
