Job Description: We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional to join our team at Sunbelt in Elgin, IL. As a Paraprofessional, you will provide essential support to students and teachers in various educational settings, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist classroom teachers in implementing instructional activities and lesson plans.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students with special needs, ensuring their safety, engagement, and participation in classroom activities.
  • Support students with completing assignments, managing behavior, and developing independent skills.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
  • Assist in the implementation of behavior management strategies and interventions.
  • Support students during transitions, lunchtime, and recess, ensuring their social integration and well-being.
  • Provide assistance with personal care tasks, as needed, including toileting, feeding, and mobility.
  • Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment, organizing materials and resources.
  • Monitor and record student progress and behavior, under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, promoting a respectful and inclusive classroom culture.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree or relevant coursework preferred).
  • Prior experience working as a paraprofessional or in a similar role, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of instructional techniques and strategies to support student learning.
  • Familiarity with special education laws, regulations, and IEP implementation.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to connect with and motivate students.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in various classrooms and with students of different ages and abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
  • Must pass a background check.
