An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse skilled in telemetry nursing to contribute to patient care in a dynamic hospital setting. This contract position offers the chance to work with adult to geriatric patients in an Overflow Intermediate Care environment, focusing on cardiac and surgical cases. Candidates with a minimum of one years telemetry nursing experience are encouraged to apply, as first-timers will not be considered.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Registered Nurse (RN) with Telemetry (RN-Tele) expertise
• Minimum of 1 year telemetry nursing experience; travel experience required
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Strong knowledge in arrhythmia management, cardioversion, chest pain, CHF, pulmonary conditions (including COPD and pulmonary edema), DVT, and renal care
• Experience with cardiac drips (amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, nitroglycerin, milrinone) and hemodynamic monitoring
• Familiarity with surgical patient care including cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, and biliary drains
• Comfort managing post-cardiac catheterization patients, TR bands, and occasional orthopedics or stroke patient overflow
• Basic arrhythmia theory and clinical use of medications like heparin, argatroban, aggrastat, bumex, and lasix

Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality telemetry care to a 32-bed overflow IMCU unit, supporting a patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, administer specialized drips, and manage complex acute care needs
• Collaborate effectively within the care team utilizing hospital systems including Epic, Pyxis, and SBAR communication
• Float within the hospital as needed while adhering to professional standards and scope of practice

Schedule:

• Night shift, 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (19:0007:00)
• Every other weekend on call; call response time is within 2 hours, with rare call occurrences
• Commitment to working major holidays when they fall within the assignment period
