Job Description
Provide expert nursing care in a specialized telemetry setting, focusing on post-procedural patients in a dynamic hospital environment. This travel nursing opportunity offers a rewarding experience with a variety of patient care responsibilities primarily involving monitoring and supporting patients recovering from surgical procedures, as well as occasional cath lab and emergency room overflow cases.
Location: Situated in Ankeny, IA, this role is ideally positioned near a vibrant community known for its friendly atmosphere, excellent schools, and convenient access to cultural and recreational activities in the Des Moines metropolitan area.
Schedule/Hours:
- Night Shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Closed on Saturdays and Sundays
- Holidays are evaluated individually based on surgical volumes; holiday work may be required
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive telemetry nursing care to post-surgical patients with stays of 1-3 nights
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to changes in patient conditions promptly
- Assist with cath lab patient care and support ER overflow situations as needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Document patient progress accurately and maintain clear communication with healthcare team members
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Current, active RN license
- Telemetry nursing experience preferred, especially in post-procedural care
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills related to cardiac monitoring
- Ability to adapt quickly to varied patient care needs in a fast-paced setting
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
