This position offers an opportunity to provide specialized care within a Progressive Care Unit focusing on step-down nursing. Located in Waynesville, NC, this contract role emphasizes high-level clinical skills and patient-centered care in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care for patients transitioning from intensive care to lower acuity units.
  • Perform neuro and spinal assessments, including C-Collar placement and TLSO brace management.
  • Administer and monitor chest tubes, PCA pumps, IV infusions, blood transfusions, and feeding tubes.
  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to support patient recovery and safety.
  • Utilize EMR systems effectively to document patient status and treatment plans.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications are mandatory.
  • Strong experience in neuro and trauma care preferred.
  • Proven ability to perform critical procedures such as lumbar drain management and chest tube care.
  • Excellent teamwork skills with a patient-focused approach.
  • Comfortable working within a step-down or med-surg clinical setting.

  • Navy blue scrubs are the designated attire.
  • Every other weekend off is typical, including potential on-call duties.
