Providing specialized nursing care in a progressive care unit requires strong clinical skills and a compassionate approach. This opportunity is suited for Registered Nurses with experience in stepdown or progressive care settings, particularly those caring for cardiothoracic, vascular surgical, and cardiac patients.
Location

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients primarily recovering from cardiothoracic and vascular surgeries, including pre- and post-operative step-down care.
- Manage complex patient care including tracheostomy care, chest tube maintenance, IV starts, insulin and heparin drip titrations.
- Conduct thorough clinical assessments and monitor cardiac telemetry data.
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams for discharge planning and patient education focusing on renal and fluid management.
- Support wound care, central line care, and patient monitoring in a Level 1 Trauma hospital setting.
- Maintain compliance with all clinical protocols and documentation through electronic medical records.
Qualifications and Desired Experience
- Valid RN license with at least 2 years of experience in med-surg or stepdown nursing.
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR). Medical-Surgical certification is preferred.
- Solid proficiency in managing complex drips, cardiac telemetry, wound care, and IV care including central lines.
- Experience working in trauma or progressive care environments is highly valued.
- Ability to thrive in a busy unit culture that values teamwork.
Schedule and Work Environment
- Shifts: 7 AM to 7 PM or 7 PM to 7 AM on a rotating six-week schedule.
- Weekend rotation includes 5-6 weekend shifts out of every 12 days.
- Holiday work expectations: one shift during major holidays.
- No on-call requirements.
- Orientation provided including educational modules and departmental introduction.
