Job Description
Provide specialized nursing care in a dynamic Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting, focusing on patients step-down from ICU and emergency admissions. This contract position in Warner Robins, GA, is ideal for experienced RNs ready to contribute their critical care skills in a Level 1 Trauma Designated teaching hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to PCU patients with complex conditions such as respiratory failure, sepsis, renal failure, stroke, and more.
- Manage invasive lines including arterial and central venous catheters, monitor vital signs, and administer IV drips (insulin, heparin) titrated to heart rate.
- Perform tracheostomy, chest tube, and PEG tube care and management.
- Collaborate effectively with CNAs assisting in vital signs, glucose checks, patient ambulation, and hygiene.
- Utilize EMR systems (Epic) and advanced monitoring equipment (Phillips VS3, Nova Glucose Stat, Belmont Rapid Infuser).
- Participate in a team-oriented unit culture focusing on patient safety and care quality.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of PCU nursing experience.
- Current RN license with valid NIHSS, BLS, and ACLS certifications required.
- CCRN certification preferred but not mandatory.
- Proficient in EKG interpretation; passing Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) competency exam required.
- Skilled in PIV starts, trach care, chest tube management, and handling complex patient care scenarios.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts rotating between days and nights with scheduled weekends and holidays.
Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts: 7A7P or 7P7A
- Weekend rotation approximately 5-6 out of 12 shifts every 6 weeks
- One holiday shift per major holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day, New Years Eve/Day)
- No on-call responsibilities
