Providing specialized care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients, this role focuses on delivering comprehensive support on a medical/surgical stepdown unit. The position involves managing a diverse patient population, including those recovering from cardiac procedures, respiratory conditions, renal failure, sepsis, and a broad range of surgical services. Critical nursing skills are utilized in monitoring patients with complex needs, such as those requiring arterial lines, chest tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, and short-term ventilation support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct nursing care to medical and surgical patients from admission to discharge, including discharge planning.
• Operate advanced medical equipment and manage patients with central lines, multiple IVs, and ventilatory support.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Provide leadership and assist in precepting nursing staff.
• Maintain professional standards while offering physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural support to patients and families.
• Assess and implement established protocols with minimal supervision.
• Supervise and provide guidance to RNs, LPNs, CNAs, housekeeping, and dietary staff.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Degree from an accredited Nursing Program.
• Experience in a medical/surgical unit with recent exposure to Critical Care or Progressive Care nursing.
• Current State RN licensure and BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications or ability to obtain within six months.
• Preferred: EPNC and TNCC certifications.
• Proficient in the use of multiple IV pumps, invasive monitoring devices, cardiac telemetry, and EKG interpretation.
• Pediatric nursing experience is advantageous.
