Job Description

Step into a critical role within a dynamic surgical trauma stepdown unit at a Level 2 trauma center in Plano, TX. This contract opportunity offers experienced RNs the chance to provide specialized post-operative and acute care for a diverse patient population on a 25-bed unit equipped with modern Meditech EMR technology. The 7 PM to 7 AM schedule supports RNs seeking consistent night shifts within a collaborative team of 44 full-time equivalents (FTEs).

Responsibilities include delivering patient-centered care for trauma, vascular, orthopedic, neuro, and general surgical cases, managing telemetry monitoring, administering intravenous drips such as Amiodarone and Heparin, and conducting thorough assessments every four hours. The patient-to-nurse ratio is generally 1:4 with a maximum of 1:5, ensuring a balanced workload and attentive care. Flexibility to float to related stepdown service lines (Progressive Care Unit and Heart and Vascular Unit) is expected.

Qualifications:

  • Valid RN license with current ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications
  • Strong customer service orientation and communication skills
  • Experience in trauma or orthopedic nursing and familiarity with Meditech EMR preferred
  • Ability to manage patients requiring telemetry and complex IV medication regimens
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced environment and effective team collaboration
