Job Description

An intensive care nursing opportunity is available in Perry, GA, providing care for patients requiring step-down monitoring from ICU and emergency admissions. This contract position focuses on delivering advanced clinical care for patients experiencing a range of acute conditions including respiratory failure, sepsis, GI bleeding, and stroke, among others.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care in a 10-bed stepdown unit with a 1:3-4 RN-to-patient ratio.
  • Manage complex patient needs involving ventilators, tracheostomies, chest tubes, arterial and central lines, and various medication drips.
  • Monitor and titrate drips to heart rate parameters and manage invasive monitoring devices including intracranial pressure monitors.
  • Assist with bedside procedures such as PEG tube placement and chest tube management.
  • Collaborate with CNAs for patient hygiene, feeding, and ambulation.
  • Utilize electronic medical records (Epic) and specialized equipment including Alariso IV pumps and Phillip monitors.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a PCU RN.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification required; NIHSS certification mandatory.
  • CCRN certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in EKG interpretation; successful completion of a Basic Cardiac Rhythm exam required.
  • Skilled in trach care, chest tube care, PIV insertion, and managing insulin and heparin drips.
  • Comfortable working a 12-hour shift schedule with rotating weekends and holidays.
