Experience a dynamic opportunity to provide specialized nursing care in a progressive step-down unit located in the Nashua, NH area. This contract role involves working on a 10-bed progressive care unit primarily serving cardio-thoracic and vascular surgical patients, along with occasional medical progressive care cases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver patient-centered care in a step-down setting utilizing telemetry monitoring and advanced cardiac nursing skills.
- Manage complex clinical equipment including IV pumps, telemetry monitors, chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP devices, and rapid transfusers.
- Perform specialized procedures such as pericardiocentesis with drains, thoracentesis, and chest tube insertion.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Adhere to unit guidelines and policies, demonstrating organizational skills with adaptable flexibility.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active RN license with step-down nursing experience.
- Proficiency in telemetry and comfort managing patients with chest tubes are mandatory.
- Preferred skills include experience with cardiac drips (dobutamine, dopamine, Levo), external pacemaker management, and advanced cardiac care.
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications are required.
- Ability to work every third weekend with no on-call responsibilities.
Work Environment and Schedule:
- The unit utilizes Sunrise EMR.
- Patient ratios range from 3-4:1.
- Staffing includes day and night charge nurses, RNs, LNAs, and sitters to provide comprehensive care.
- The position supports floating within progressive care and telemetry areas.
