This contract nursing opportunity is ideal for an RN with stepdown experience seeking a rewarding role in Lincolnton, NC. The position supports a 32-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a 241-licensed bed hospital offering a Level 3 Trauma designation and certified chest pain and stroke centers. The care team manages patients with diverse diagnoses such as CHF, stroke, chest pain, infections, respiratory illness, and more.
Qualified candidates will have at least 18 months of PCU RN experience and hold current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications. Skills in cardiac rhythm interpretation, management of tracheostomies, chest tubes, blood products, wound care, and central lines are essential to provide excellent patient care. The typical patient ratio is 1:4, occasionally up to 1:5 depending on acuity.
The supportive multidisciplinary team consists of CNAs assisting with ADLs, charge nurses, a reliable IV/VAT team, phlebotomists, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists all available 24/7. The unit employs EPIC for EMR, Phillips monitors, Alariso IV pumps, and Omnicell medication systems to enhance treatment accuracy and efficiency.
Flexible weekend rotations occur every other weekend with no on-call required. Travelers should expect to work approximately 75% of holidays and may receive up to 6 days off approved by RTO policy, potentially extending the contract to fulfill hours. Floating within the regional healthcare facilities is required, with paid travel time if mid-shift relocation occurs. Navy scrubs and free parking are provided.
