Job Description
Provide critical nursing care in a stepdown unit specializing in cardiac and ICU patients at a well-equipped healthcare facility in Greenwood, IN. This contract position offers a 36-hour workweek with every other weekend coverage on Friday and Saturday nights, 7:00 pm to 7:30 am shifts. The role demands proficiency in ventilator management and titratable drips, supporting patients with high acuity needs in a 16-bed unit maintaining a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio.
Location:
The unit is situated within a dedicated heart center on the third floor of a modern hospital campus in Indianapolis, offering advanced critical care technology, including ventilators and Epic EMR. Employees receive a drawer key for secure medication and sharps storage directly in patient rooms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized nursing care to cardiac stepdown and ICU patient populations
- Manage ventilators and administer titratable drip medications accurately
- Collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Maintain documentation according to Epic EMR protocols
- Adhere to unit policies including dress code (navy scrubs; hoodies and sweatshirts not permitted)
Qualifications:
- Active RN license
- Minimum of 2 years critical care nursing experience
- ACLS certification required
- Demonstrated proficiency with ventilators and titratable drip medications
- Ability to float within stepdown and other critical care settings
- Strong team orientation and communication skills
This contract role does not require call but may involve holiday staffing as needed. Candidates should be prepared to complete any required education modules prior to starting.
