Job Description

Provide specialized nursing care to hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients in a medical/surgical step-down setting. This role involves delivering comprehensive physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural support to diverse patient populations, including pediatrics and those recovering from cardiac and surgical interventions. Care responsibilities span from admission through discharge, involving skilled assessment, operation of advanced medical equipment, and collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct patient care on the inpatient progressive care unit, monitoring conditions such as CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, and post-surgical recovery.
  • Operate advanced medical devices, including arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, and ventilatory support systems.
  • Assess patient status and intervene proactively to manage potential deterioration.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including providers, charge nurses, and nursing leaders, to coordinate comprehensive care.
  • Provide clinical leadership and assist in precepting new staff.
  • Oversee and give direction to nursing assistants, housekeeping, and dietary staff.
  • Participate actively in discharge planning and patient education.

Qualifications:

  • Degree from an accredited nursing program.
  • Experience in advanced medical/surgical and recent critical or progressive care nursing.
  • Current Montana RN license.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required or to be obtained within six months of hire.
  • EPNC and TNCC certifications preferred.
  • Proficiency in operating multiple IV pumps, cardiac telemetry, EKG interpretation, and advanced nursing procedures.
  • Pediatric experience is an advantage.
