Job Description

A 13-week contract opportunity is available for a registered nurse with stepdown unit experience. This role involves providing high-quality care in a short-term acute care hospital setting, working primarily night shifts in a fast-paced environment that supports professional growth and patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care on the stepdown unit with a patient ratio of 1:3
  • Administer and monitor drips such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, and Dobutamine
  • Perform special procedures including thoracentesis and paracentesis
  • Manage patients requiring isolation precautions, including those with COVID-19
  • Float within the scope of practice to med tele, med-surg, and rehab units as needed
  • Possible charge nurse duties when scheduled
  • Work a 3x12-hour night shift schedule (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
  • Participate in on-call rotations every third weekend

Qualifications & Desired Experience

  • Current RN license in Missouri or compact nursing license
  • 1 to 2 years of stepdown nursing experience required; first-time stepdown nurses considered
  • ACLS and BLS (AHA) certifications required
  • Comfortable and experienced with critical care equipment and special procedures
  • Ability to manage patients on multiple drips and isolation protocols
