Job Description

This opportunity is for a skilled Registered Nurse with Stepdown/PCU experience to provide critical patient care in a fast-paced hospital setting located in Bonaire, GA. This contract role offers a chance to advance your nursing skills by working with a varied patient population suffering from complex medical conditions such as respiratory failure, sepsis, strokes, and post-ICU step-down care.

Responsibilities include managing critical care patients with devices such as tracheostomies, chest tubes, arterial and central lines, and handling advanced IV drips like insulin and heparin. You'll assist with bedside procedures, monitor vital signs using advanced technology, titrate drips to heart rate, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including CNAs, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists. Patient ratios typically consist of one nurse to three or four patients, with CNA support helping to ensure quality care.

Core Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of progressive PCU/Stepdown nursing experience
  • Active RN license with current BLS and ACLS certifications (NIHSS required)
  • CCRN certification preferred but not mandatory
  • Proficiency in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and management of invasive lines
  • Competency in EKG interpretation (Basic Cardiac Rhythm), including passing an EKG competency exam during compliance
  • Experience with EMR systems, preferably EPIC, and advanced bedside monitoring equipment

Shift details include 12-hour shifts (7 AM7 PM or 7 PM7 AM), weekend rotations every 6 weeks, and holiday coverage. Free parking is available on-site. Orientation involves a day plus departmental training, ensuring a smooth transition into the unit culture, which emphasizes teamwork in a busy environment.
