This opportunity is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Stepdown care, providing essential support on a progressive care unit in Arden, NC. The role is contract-based, ideal for nurses with a strong background in neuro and trauma care seeking a focused clinical environment.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active RN license with experience in Stepdown units
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Proven skills in neuro and trauma care preferred
- Familiarity with IV pumps, PCA pumps, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and patient lifts
- Comfortable performing neuro and spinal checks, C-collar placement, TLSO braces, lumbar drains, feeding tube placements, and blood transfusions
- Team-oriented approach with patient-focused care
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with neuro and trauma conditions in a 44-bed Progressive Care Unit
- Manage patient ratios typically around 4:1 or 5:1 stretched, ensuring safe and effective care
- Utilize Cerner EMR system for accurate documentation
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including CNAs, charge nurses, and healthcare assistants
- Adhere to unit protocols and coordinate with floating assignments in stepdown and med-surg units as needed
- Maintain professional attire with navy blue scrubs and comply with scheduling including every other weekend and occasional on-call shifts
