Job Description

Experienced nurses with expertise in post-anesthesia care are sought for a contract position in a dynamic perioperative setting. This role requires arriving on the Thursday prior to the start date for a mandatory Friday employee health appointment. Proof of flu vaccination, or a facility-approved exception, is necessary before your assignment beginsvaccinations can be completed during the health clearance. If you do not already hold an active Hawaii nursing license, you must apply for one promptly upon acceptance of the offer, and it is required by the assignment start date.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Variable shifts: 8, 10, and 12-hour options available
  • Day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts may be assigned
  • Work may encompass both ASU and PACU units
  • On-call required 0-3 times monthly (8-hour night or 24-hour weekend/holiday shifts)
  • Shift hours and preferences cannot be guaranteed

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years' recent critical care (ER or ICU) or PACU nursing experience in a hospital setting
  • Current, valid BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Active, unencumbered nursing license in the state of Hawaii by the assignment start date
  • PALS from AHA recommended (may be required for some registered nurse roles)
  • Additional specialty certifications (e.g., NIHSS, TNCC) preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive care for pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery patients
  • Monitor patients post-surgery, assessing incision sites, vital signs, and overall stability
  • Utilize advanced clinical judgment to detect signs of complications
  • Operate unit equipment: Meditech, PCA pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV pumps, SCDs, Bair PAWS, and patient monitors
